Change
Change
I have good intentions
To make improvements in my life
To achieve the full potential that’s in me
With great determination
I plan and hope and strive
My efforts usually last about…two weeks
I don’t know what to eat instead
To see weight disappear
I really don’t like exercise that much
Or maybe there’s a habit
That I’d like to lose this year
A “go-to” that I use as a crutch
Change is everywhere
In the weather—in the air
On the roads there is change in traffic lights
We change the oil in our cars
And the color of our hair
The positions that we sleep in bed at nights
We change the sheets
And change the laundry
And PLEASE change your stinky socks
We change our minds
And our direction
Change our focus…and our clocks
We often sorely need to change our attitude,
Our paradigm,
The light bulbs, and our plans
It’s good for us to know
Just when to change our clothes,
Our perspective, expectations, and demands
Do we need a lifestyle change?
Or to change the way we eat?
Do we need to change the batteries, or just recharge?
It’s overwhelming when we try
To make these changes all alone
Lasting changes can sometimes seem so hard
Change is rarely comfortable
But often times desired
And is needed so much more than I’ll admit
Willpower is not strong enough
We need to be inspired
To receive a “Change of Heart” is to submit
Some changes are unwanted
Unexpected, and cause fear
So turn to Christ with greater faith and trust
There are things that we can change
And there are things that we cannot
But through Christ can come a “Mighty Change” in us
