Choose Joy

You were just a little guy,
But from an early age
You showed us how determined you could be. 

You’ve had trials in you life
You’ve had to overcome.
The path you’ve walked hasn’t been easy. 

I know that there were times
When you wanted to not try,
But you were never down for very long. 

The spirit you posses
Won’t allow you to give up.
I’ve watched you grow and can see that you are strong. 

You’ve accomplished something good
That you’ve worked for, many years.
One lesson learned; that you can do hard things. 

Your journey isn’t over
With adventures still to come.
You have yet to learn the lessons they will bring. 

If you have a happy heart
That is filled with gratitude
And reflect upon the lessons of the past, 

Through all the ups and downs
That will come along the way,
Choose joy, and happiness will last.
