My Granddaughter

My Granddaughter
She smiles and two teeth I see
Just starting to appear
Her giggles, squeals and jabber
Are sounds I love to hear
She’s crawling now, but soon
She’ll be walking on her own
It’s almost been a year
And look how she has grown
I’ve heard it said that a mother
Goes through the valley of death to give birth
I stood helplessly by as my daughter
Fought to bring this angel to earth.
In all the world I cannot find
A blessing any sweeter
Than her, my precious granddaughter
