Hard Things

High School Graduation
From one, two, three, and a-b-c’s
To algebra and similes
It took twelve years,
Twelve years, I say,
Twelve years of hard work everyday.
Sometimes I thought my brain would fry.
Sometimes I thought that I would die.
Sometimes It was too hard to go
And so my progress…It was slow.
There was so much for me to do
To get caught up…it made me blue.
I tried most everything, it seems.
Should I try learning in my dreams?
My mom was nervous…she would say,
“do more packets!” everyday.
Then she would pray and Pray and Pray
And say, “there is no time to play”.
And now the day has finally come.
And now to you I say, “I’m done”.
School is over. Hip Hip Hooray!
It couldn’t be a greater day.
What’s that you say, I’m not all through?
There’s college still I need to do?
Bring on the challenge, my heart sings
For I have learned to do hard things.
