The Rescue

The Rescue

I’ve heard people say, “I’ll go rescue
My lost friend in his time of need.
I’m sure that this is my calling,
I’ll bring him back, just leave it to me.”

Then they jump in head-long in deep waters
Without thought of the dangers ahead.
And it doesn’t take long for two people
To be drowning in deep water instead.

We’re each called to go rescue our loved ones
Who have strayed from the path toward the Lord,
But to keep us from being pulled under,
We need to stand anchored and safe on the shore.

Throwing in life lines of example and love
They can grab on as you pull them to you.
For we can’t help our friends or our loved ones
If we become casualties too.

As we stand firm in our faith and our standards,
With sincere love we invite them along
To attend church every week, it’s not just for the weak
But for those who want to be strong.

If we quit working our bodies we loose muscle and strength.
That happens to our spirits as well.
If we don’t nourish our spirits with scriptures and prayer
We might not notice at what point we fell.
